WBEC-East Receives $50,000 Grant from Capital One to Support Women’s Business Center Pitch Competition

Philadelphia, PA — The Women’s Business Enterprise Center East (WBEC-East) is proud to announce a $50,000 grant from Capital One to expand its annual Women’s Business Center Pitch Competition—an initiative that equips early-stage women entrepreneurs with essential training, mentorship, visibility, and seed funding.

Now entering its third year, the Pitch Competition supports early entrepreneurs who face barriers to traditional capital and business networks. The grant will strengthen the program’s multi-tiered support model, which includes business education, individualized coaching, and community-building.

The Pitch Competition aligns directly with WBEC-East’s mission to promote economic empowerment through business development, with intentional outreach to local business owners through scholarships, partnerships, and targeted engagement.

By supporting this initiative, Capital One is helping remove barriers to business success and expanding pathways to economic mobility for women entrepreneurs across the region.
