Looking for a way to promote your company to major corporations that are actively seeking to conduct business with a woman/women owned business(es)?
Certifying women owned businesses is the foundation of the WBEC-East mission, along with connecting WBENC-Certified Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs) in PA, NJ, and DE with our Corporate Members to facilitate real-time business opportunities. We also serve as a resource to offer training that helps the Corporate Member and the WBENC-Certified WBE grow their capacity.
Our WBENC world-class certification is accepted by more than 1,000 corporations representing America’s most prestigious brands, in addition to many states, cities and other entities. WBENC is also an approved Third Party Certifier for the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program.
WBENC Certification validates that the business is 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. To achieve WBENC Certification, women owned businesses complete a formal documentation and a site visit process, which is administered by WBEC-East in PA from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia as well as across New Jersey and Delaware. WBENC Certification gives women owned businesses the ability to compete for real-time business opportunities provided by WBENC Corporate Members and government agencies.
What is a WBE?
A Women’s Business Enterprise, commonly referred to as a WBE, is an independent business company that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens or Legal Resident Aliens; whose business formation and principal place of business are in the U.S. or its territories; and whose management and daily operation are controlled
by a woman with industry expertise.
What does it mean to be “a WBENC-certified WBE”?
A WBENC-certified WBE is a business that has gone through a rigorous and stringent certification process to confirm the business is owned, managed, and controlled by a woman or women. WBENC-certified WBEs use their certification credentials to gain access to WBENC Corporate Members, as well as a number of federal, state, and local government agencies. In addition, WBENC- certified WBEs also gain access to over 14,000 other WBENC- certified WBEs in order to purchase products or services and to partner on joint venture opportunities.
The business is certified, not the individual.
